U-Boat Bases and Bunkers: Lorient: The U-Boat Bunker complex suffered a total of thirty three serious raids but only one, on 17 May 1943, included over 100 aircraft. Minimal damage was done to the bunkers while German Flak guns shot down or seriously damaged at least 60 aircraft.
